A Prayer for My Wife

Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless. In this same way, husbands ought to love their wives as their own bodies. He who loves his wife loves himself. After all, no one ever hated his own body, but he feeds and cares for it, just as Christ does the church— for we are members of his body. For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and the two will become one flesh. This is a profound mystery—but I am talking about Christ and the church. However, each one of you also must love his wife as he loves himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
~~ Ephesians 5:25-33

Husbands, love your wives and do not be harsh with them.
~~ Colossians 3:19

In the Lord, however, woman is not independent of man, nor is man independent of woman.
~~ 1 Corinthians 11:11

Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.
~~ 1 Peter 3:7

Heavenly Father, help me to love my wife, Raquel, sacrificially, just as Christ loved the church and gave Himself for her:

— May I never be harsh toward her but instead honor and cherish her.
— May I always remember that I am not independent of her.
— Help me to understand and fulfill her needs.
— Inspire me to draw on her wisdom and strength.
— Lead me to treat her with tenderness and humility.
— Let me display an unselfish spirit at all times.

Faithful Father, strengthen Raquel and bless her daily with the joy of Your presence:

— Keep her safe by surrounding her with Your hedge of protection.
— Keep her clothed in Your armor and prepare her for each day’s battle.
— Give her the wisdom to perform on her job and be a witness for You.

Lord, I thank You so much for all that my wife does for me, and our family. Thank You for blessing me with such a wonderful companion, helpmate, and best friend.

In the name of Your Son, and our Savior, Jesus Christ,

  9. This is an inspiring post. I take it straight to heart! I spent over half a lifetime trying to sort myself out after an abusive upbringing, never thinking I’d find a True Love. But God has given me a great gift in my wife! But now I am tasked with trying to figure out how to provide for her as best I can…something I’ve never done before. We are also in dire need of relief from the stress of taking care of her elderly parents, but we continue to try…we give up our own personal space by staying with them. We do need a home of our own now, and I pray we may accumulate just enough to be able to do so, as we can still come over and care for them. It’s just time to get help, and have our own life together. The economy being what it is, and my wife not being well either, is making it very difficult, and she will not get well staying here with all of this stress upon us. I will incorporate much of this posting into my own prayers, with the hope that such focus may help to bring about change and spark some creativity in my pursuit of her (and our) happiness. I love her so much! I wish I could show her… God willing, I may yet be able to. She is my life, and I absolutely adore her.
In the names of the Trinity, I pray for a better life for her, for us, and for all humankind.

  10. Please pray for me my wife has asked me to leave. I have not loved her like Jesus has loved the Church. I have been dealing with anger for so long and I took it out on my wife. I love her and my daughter so much. I am know seeking help for my problem. I just want to be with my family I miss them so bad all I can do is cry.

  11. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH FOR THIS. I always need reminders, God, thru his Son, Jesus, I pray blessings an help for each one of these souls

  12. My wife entered Mrs South Africa pageant andit is I that convinced her to enter as I believe it is her first step to heal from what she has been through as child. I pray to God everyday for her journey through this process. This is not abouther winning the pageant but rather winning the greatest battle and that is within her. I pray that Gid is with her all the way holding her hand. And if she does win the pageant it won;t be about her but it will be to glorify and hnour God, her victory os for God. Please if you can say a prayer or two for Tanya Matlou.

  13. Dear Lord, I give you praise and honor that my wife Tanya’s mind is steadfast, because she trusts in You, and You will always keep her in perfect peace. Isaiah 26:3
And thank You that she will always listen to You and live in safety and at ease, without fear of harm or evil. Proverbs 1:33
And I give You praise Lord, that Tanya is blessed, and does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. I thank You that she delights in your law, and that she meditates on your word day and night, and that she is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. And thank You that whatever she does prospers.
    Psalm 1:1-3

  16. Please pray for myself and my wife Grace. We both make mistakes and we both are stubborn. My wife had ask for divorce. I had always thought no matter how heated our arguments, we will see it through. I had realized my limit is not the same as my wife. I wish I could take back whatever I had said during those arguments but it had been spoken.
